The Bateman Apartments, formerly known as The Bateman Hotel (1869) and located in the commercial downtown district of Lowville, NY, is one of the most prominent and architecturally distinctive buildings within the district. The historic architectural integrity of the Bateman Hotel has been very well preserved. Pressed metal ceilings, the black and white (checkered) marble tile floor (dating to 1876), the four-story spiral stairway (with full decorative wood balustrade) and the Colonial Revival porte-cochere (with round Doric columns resting on cut stone piers) which highlights the main entry, are just a few of the original features that remain.
Residents enjoy living within walking distance of the famous town hall movie theater and many quaint downtown shops. They are also just a just a short drive away from the bowling alley, as well as Snow Ridge ski resort, where they can downhill ski, snow tube and uphill snowmobile climb.
